Adolph J. Oskutis
Adolph J. Oskutis, 93, of Rahway passed away on Thursday at home. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 8:45 a.m. in the Pettit-Davis Funeral Home, 371 W. Milton Ave., Rahway, thence to Sts. Peter and Paul R.C. Church, Elizabeth, where his Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Interment is in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visiting will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., www.pettitdavisfuneral home.com. Born in Elizabeth, Adolph moved to Rahway many years ago. He was employed by Singer Corp., Elizabeth, N.J., for many years, and later by the City of Rahway as its health inspector before retiring many years ago. He was a WW II US Navy Veteran serving as a CPO from 1941-45. Adolph was a communicant of Sts. Peter and Paul R.C. Church, Elizabeth. He was a member of the Knights of Lithuania, the Dafget Builders bowling team and the Rahway Senior Citizens. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 1991. Surviving are two sons, Adolph of Plano, Texas, and Roy of Hummelstown, Pa.; a daughter, Yvette Van Hise of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., and a brother, Charles. He was also loved by six grandchildren, Crystal, Michael, David, Laura, Derek and Morgan, and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at the funeral home to the U.S. Navy Memorial or the World War II Memorial Fund.
